Ya know… you don’t have to wait until everything is fixed to feel something good…
That’s the false pretense most of us live under. That happiness is some reward you unlock after you finally get your life together. After the money is right or after the healing is complete or even after you’ve answered every question that’s been sitting in your head for years.
Let’s be real… most people never “arrive” at that clean, finished, polished version of life they’re waiting for. There’s always another layer or another problem that pushes you in ways you didn’t ask for.
So if you keep telling yourself you’re only allowed to feel peace when everything is perfect, you’re signing up to suffer longer than you need to.
You’re allowed to laugh while you’re still confused.
You’re allowed to feel joy while parts of your life are still messy.
You’re allowed to have a good day even if yesterday was terrible and tomorrow feels completely uncertain at best
That doesn’t make you fake. It doesn’t mean you’re ignoring your problems. It means you’re human, and you’re not letting your entire life be held hostage by what isn’t solved yet.

The best HR advice comes from people who’ve been in the trenches.
That’s what this newsletter delivers.
I Hate it Here is your insider’s guide to surviving and thriving in HR, from someone who’s been there. It’s not about theory or buzzwords — it’s about practical, real-world advice for navigating everything from tricky managers to messy policies.
Every newsletter is written by Hebba Youssef — a Chief People Officer who’s seen it all and is here to share what actually works (and what doesn’t). We’re talking real talk, real strategies, and real support — all with a side of humor to keep you sane.
Because HR shouldn’t feel like a thankless job. And you shouldn’t feel alone in it.

Some of you have been carrying this guilt every time you start to feel ok. Like you don’t deserve it yet. Like you haven’t earned it. Like something bad is going to come in and take it away if you get too comfortable.
That mindset will drain the damn life out of you.
Healing isn’t just about digging through all the pain. It’s about learning how to hold light and darkness at the same time without letting either one define you completely.
You can be a work in progress and still experience peace.
You can be rebuilding and still enjoy your life.
Stop postponing your happiness like it’s some luxury item you’ll buy later.
It’s not!
It’s something you practice… right here… in the middle of the mess.
Not just when everything makes sense.
