This was a full weekend!
One daughter had a basketball game. Shoes squeaking… coaches yelling… parents yelling and holding their breath on every possession. I watched her fight for position, miss a shot, shake it off, and get back on defense like it never happened. No sulking. No excuses. Just pure effort.
Another daughter had a house full of friends. Movies playing on the TV. Pizza boxes stacked up. Laughing and roasting each other. The stuff that reminds you life’s happening right now and you better pay attention.
And one daughter packed up and went back to college for her second semester. There were a lot of hugs that lingered and we didn’t want to let go. That few seconds after the car door closed where you feel pride and loss at the same time. She’s in her own season now. One that requires independence, discipline, and belief in herself.
All that while nursing everyone back to health from this bug that’s going around. It was an eventful weekend, that’s for sure!
With all that said… it hit me hard how seasons really work.
In basketball, there’s no guarantee you’ll win every game. But the teams that are winners never stop showing up. They never lose focus. They never quit because of one bad quarter. They play through the misses. They adjust. They grow. They stay in it.
Life works the same way.
This is your season to win. It’s not going to be easy and it’s not because you haven’t taken hits… but because you are still here. You’re still standing. You’re still learning how to play the long game.
We never lose sight of where we’re going. We never give up when things get uncomfortable. We don’t fold when the pressure rises. We don’t sit out just because the season demands more from us.
Everyone is about to witness the next level you. Not the loud and flashy version. The disciplined one. The focused one. The version that keeps showing up when no one is clapping for you.
Just like that court. Just like that dorm room. Just like that living room full of laughter.
