It’s raining today. The steady kind of rain. The kind of rain that slows everything down whether you want it to or not. The kind that makes noise without saying a word.

Days like this always hit me in the feels.

The most important lessons in my life didn’t just come from big speeches or emotional breakdowns. They came from quiet hands. From showing up when nobody was watching. From doing the work without announcing it everywhere. From staying when leaving would have been easier.

For a long time I talked a lot about who I was going to become. I had big plans!

What I didn’t have then was consistency. My hands were restless but they weren’t honest. I was busy, but I wasn’t present.

That changed… slowly.

It changed when I started doing small things every day without expecting any type of recognition. I was getting up early everyday. Sitting in uncomfortable silences for long periods of time. Making calls I didn’t want to make. Apologizing without defending myself. Staying sober when no one would have known if I wasn’t. Listening more than I spoke. Being there for my family in simple ordinary ways… like folding laundry(once or twice)!

Nobody clapped for that. Nobody posted on social media about it. Nobody even noticed most of it to be honest.

But… that’s where the truth showed up.

Quiet hands tell loud truths. They tell you who you really are when there’s nothing to perform for. They tell your kids whether or not you are safe. They tell your partner whether your words truly mean anything. They tell God whether you are listening or just talking.

Rainy days remind me of that. Everything looks slower. Everything sounds softer. And somehow the truth gets clearer.

If today feels quiet for you… don’t rush to fill the space. Let your hands speak. Let them show patience. Let them show restraint. Let them show love in small, repeatable ways.
