This phrase gets thrown around a lot… Only the strong survive.
I used to believe that meant you had to be hard all the time. Unshakeable… emotionless... always pushing… never breaking. Strength, to me, looked like white knuckles all the time
I lived that way all the time. I carried everything myself, I didn’t ask for help, I didn’t slow down, and I told myself that if I could just hang on long enough, I’d earn my way out of this. From the outside, I probably looked strong. Inside, I was exhausted and falling apart.
What almost took me out wasn’t weakness... It was pretending that I didn’t have any weaknesses.
What actually helped me survive wasn’t just being tougher… It was being honest with myself. It was admitting when I was overwhelmed. It was choosing to stick and stay instead of running.
I’ve learned that real strength isn’t about who can take the most hits. It’s about who keeps showing up even when they’re tired, unsure, and still going through it. It’s about who’s willing to face themselves instead of numbing out or running away.
Only the strong survive, yes.
But strength doesn’t always look like white knuckles.
Sometimes it looks like asking for help…
Sometimes it looks like taking a break…
Sometimes it looks like starting over again, slower this time, with more honesty and less pride.
You don’t have to prove anything. Survival isn’t about dominance. It’s about endurance with intention.
You’re not weak for feeling what you feel. You’re strong because you stayed.
See you tomorrow!
