Happy Monday!

Not the new week, new me nonsense. Just some cold hard truth...

You woke up and you’re still here, and for some of you that alone took more strength than anyone around you will ever understand!

Trauma doesn’t clock out on Sunday night, does it? It doesn’t care that the calendar flipped. It shows up in your body before your feet hit the floor. It shows up in your mind, the racing thoughts, and the way you scan rooms without realizing you’re doing it. That’s not weakness. That’s survival that learned its job a little too well!

Mondays used to feel real heavy for me. The world expected productivity and I was still fighting battles from years ago. I would sit in my car with my hands on the steering wheel, trying to slow my breathing down so nobody would see the raging storm inside me. I thought something was wrong with me. The truth was my nervous system was still living in yesterday…

👇 Now back to the article! 👇

Trauma recovery isn’t about pretending all that shit didn’t happen. It’s about teaching your body that it isn’t happening right now. It’s about choosing different responses when the old ones feel automatic. It’s about catching yourself before you snap, before you isolate, before you try to numb your feelings, and saying, I’m safe in this moment even if my past wasn’t.

There were nights I wanted to go back to old coping mechanisms because they were really familiar. Familiar feels safe even when it’s destructive. Healing feels unfamiliar, and unfamiliar feels dangerous at first. That’s the fight! Not against the world... against the patterns that kept you alive but are now holding you back!

You’re not broken! You’ve adapted! And now you get to adapt again!

So this Monday, don’t measure yourself by how motivated you feel. Measure yourself by how honest you’re willing to be. Did you pause before reacting? Did you tell the truth about what you’re feeling? Did you take one small step instead of shutting down? That’s recovery… that’s strength!

Trauma may have shaped you, but it doesn’t get to define you unless you let it.

You’re not who you were in survival mode. You’re who you are becoming in healing mode.

Love you all!

Jeff
