This will be a little longer than normal…
Let’s talk about grief for a minute. Real grief. Not the bullshit version people post online where somebody lights a candle, writes a caption, and somehow acts like healing wrapped up in thirty days.
I mean the kind of grief that changes your nervous system.
The kind that sneaks up on you in the middle of a random Tuesday. You're driving, folding laundry, sitting in a parking lot, making coffee, and out of nowhere something hits you. A memory… a smell… a song… a date on the calendar… and suddenly you're right back in it.
Here's what people don't talk about enough. Grief isn't just about death.
Sometimes you're grieving the childhood you never had.
Sometimes you're grieving the parent you needed but didn't get.
Sometimes you're grieving the marriage that ended, the version of yourself addiction stole, the years trauma took from you, or the person you had to become just to survive.
That shit is real!

Preparing For Surgery? Don’t Ignore Recovery
Most people spend weeks preparing for surgery itself — but very little time preparing for recovery afterward.
The healing process places major nutritional demands on the body, increasing the need for nutrients involved in tissue repair, immune support, collagen formation, and recovery.
HealFast was physician-formulated specifically for pre- and post-surgery nutritional support with targeted vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants, and recovery-focused nutrients designed for the healing process.
If you have an upcoming procedure or are currently recovering, recovery nutrition may be one of the most overlooked parts of the process.

And if you've been through trauma, grief recovery gets complicated because loss isn't always clean. Sometimes you miss people who hurt you. Sometimes you grieve relationships that were toxic as hell because they were still familiar. Sometimes you're mourning a life you thought you'd have while trying to figure out how to build a completely different one.
Nobody really prepares you for that.
People love to say, “time heals.” I don't know if I fully buy that. I think time teaches. I think time creates scar tissue. I think time helps you breathe longer between the hard moments. But healing? Healing happens when you stop running from the pain and finally sit with it long enough to understand what it's trying to tell you.
And yeah, that sucks sometimes.
Because grief will make you feel crazy if you don't understand what's happening. One day you're ok and the next day you're angry for no reason. Then you’re numb or sad. Then guilty because you laughed at something and forgot for five minutes that you're hurting.
That's grief. It's messy as hell!
Trauma adds another layer to it too. Your brain remembers pain. It remembers abandonment. It remembers chaos. So sometimes grief isn't only about what happened today. It's old pain waking up and introducing itself all over again. That's why one loss can suddenly make ten older wounds start screaming.
You aren't weak because it hurts.
You're human!
And recovery from grief doesn't mean forgetting. It doesn't mean pretending you're “over it.” It means learning how to carry the weight without letting it bury you. It means learning how to keep showing up even when part of you still aches. It means eventually being able to remember without completely falling apart.
Some days you'll move forward an inch.
Some days you'll feel like you got knocked ten steps back.
Keep going anyway.
Seriously!
Don't isolate. Don't numb yourself to death. Don't convince yourself you have to be the strong one all the damn time. Talk to somebody. Cry if you need to. Get angry if you need to. Journal. Pray. Walk. Sit in silence. Do whatever healthy thing helps you process instead of suppress.
Because buried grief doesn't disappear.
It waits.
And eventually it comes asking for attention.
I know for a fact that you can survive grief. Even the kind that changes you. You may not come out the same person on the other side, but maybe that's not the point.
Maybe the point is becoming somebody softer in the places that used to stay guarded.
Maybe the point is learning that pain can visit without unpacking its bags forever.
And maybe, just maybe, the fact that you're still here means healing is already happening, even if it feels slow as hell.
