Looking back on a few different parts of my life that were anything but efficient...
I used to measure my progress by the outcomes only. The wins... the numbers… all the recognition. Proof that the struggle was totally worth it. If something didn’t move the needle fast enough, I labeled it a waste of my time.
But experience doesn’t work like that.
Experience is what shows up when the plan completely falls apart. It’s what gets built when you fail publicly, start over awkwardly, and keep moving forward anyway. It’s the lessons you learn when nobody’s clapping for you and nothing looks that impressive from the outside.
You can’t buy that kind of understanding. You can’t shortcut it. You certainly can’t fake it.
Every hard conversation. Every hole you had to climb out of. Every business idea that didn’t work. Every relationship that forced you to grow or walk away. Every time you hung in there when it would’ve been easier to just quit. All of that… is experience.
Experience sharpens your instincts. It teaches you what not to do without needing an instruction manual. It gives you discernment that no motivational quote ever will. It builds patience, humility, and confidence.
The people who move differently aren’t always the smartest or the most talented. They’re usually the ones who’ve been through a lot and trust themselves now.
So, if you’re in a season that feels slow, messy, or expensive in ways you can’t explain, don’t rush to write it off. You may not see the return yet, but it’s being deposited.
Some things don’t show up on a balance sheet. They show up in how you carry yourself.
That kind of wealth lasts.
